I used to play global a lot, but then they changed the gacha and pretty much forced you to pay to get a standard job, so I just dropped it. Not to mention they were slow as fuck to localize content and skipped a bunch of events.

I'm a minors spender and I already had all the Jobs from the Job Summon already and so far I honestly had a ton of luck with the new system to the point I prefer it over the old.
I get roughly 2 jobs in 4 GAS pulls, 1 regular and 1 legend.
Literally have all the Jobs released so far in GL and I spent maybe 100$ in total on this game since last August.
Growstars are a FAR bigger bottleneck for me.

They removed the guaranteed Job Summons. Basically, all Jobs starting with those released in May became only obtainable from GAS (the 6 ticket 6 card gacha pull). Technically good for veterans who already owned all Jobs but lacked cards, very good for minor spenders, terrible for pure F2P and whales.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me.
Anyway in terms of official ones as in made by Squeenix themselves and not just leasing out the brand name, then I think around 4 or so.
Brave Exvius is barely even a FF game, only the first act of the story pretends to be FF and the rest is generic chinkshit, also happens to be made by chinks that only lease the FF brand from Square Enix.
Same with that FF15 one New Empire or someshit.
Record Keeper is also outsourced but that one is just nostalgiabait with simplified mechanics.
Mobius is the best of them all imo but it's still a skinner box, you just need to be smart enough with it since it's a quite lenient skinner box to give it as little as possible. New players are definitely disadvantaged though since the game went through some serious downgrades in terms of leniency over the past 4 months so people that started last year will be forever ahead of you and you will never catch up without paying.
And then there's Dimensions which is a FF5-style full fledged game with no gacha or microtransactions whatsoever with big story, FF5-like jobs, overworld etc. Basically if you liked FF3 or FF5 you can't go wrong with that one. Youtube it.

Anon, Japan is a year ahead of GL. GL is perfectly on schedule to get its FF13 event in September. Eveything so far with exception of surprise FF15 and FF14 events (which Japan didn't have a year ago) and P&D not happening was literally exactly 1 year after Japan.

Ignoring all the dead games (like All The Bravest, Chocobo Tower, Airborne Brigade, etc) and decent single player games like Dimensions, there are three main "international" ones right now: Record Keeper (revisit old FF storylines and battles with a dumb shota), Brave Exvius ("original" storyline, plays like Brave Frontier), and Mobius ("fancy fanfic/rewrite" version of FFI).
There are some of japan-only games too, like Pictlogica (puzzle/RPG) and Legends II (F2P/gacha sequel to Dimensions).

Meia (the azure witch) is the second one.
Garand is the third.
Sarah is the fourth.
Garland never becomes playable though and is there only as a guardian/guide figure for you.
Meia becomes playable in Chapter 6.
Sarah becomes playable in Chapter 8 which is also the last one.
Chaos's true form is reminiscent of Feral Chaos from Dissidia.

You can pretty much clear everything purely as F2P, the only thing that may stay out of reach is Top 1000 of the tower but that has absolutely laughable rewards anyway to the point that you'd be much better off paying money to buy that shit from the store than buying into the overpowered shit to get into those ranks to get those rewards.

Nah, Garland's plan in FF1 is what he says it is.
Get sent to the past by Four Fiends, become Chaos, then send the Four Fiends of the past into the future (where they normally don't exist) so they can revive Future Garland and send him to the past keeping the cycle.
The player party in FF1 is special because you end up killing the Four Fiends in the past before you confront Chaos, basically you get there faster than in previous cycles in time before Chaos can send the Four Fiends into the future, thus breaking the cycle.

I really didn't expect to like Mobius so much, but I fucking love it. Having to grind up like a million different things kinda sucks, plus the gacha inevitably leads to frustration. Everything else is great, and unique in a really weird way. There's so much about how things are presented that makes me wonder who came up with this bizarre shit, and how they managed to make it so cool.
