r9 290 owner here. What's the problem?

The game has an option to limit vram usage, I run it fine on a 2gb card.

Said no one in the last 10 years. 8gb has been the meme for ages and already people are moving on to minimum 16gb and your pic demonstrates why.

Because this game does proper shared system memory and uses it as VRAM for texture streaming. Option availible since AGP connector.
It even says in the menu, that using higher texture pack then your VRAM need more system RAM.
OP is just retarded, it will allocate as much memory as you set in settings.

The game looks good, but not THAT good, I could run DooM 2016 at 4K Ultrawide with my 1070 and stay above 60FPS most of the time on high settings, above 150fps if I run it at max settings on a 2560x1080 screen

And it does not eat all of my VRAM and all available RAM. Quampions runs about half the framerate for the same settings and it's gone as far as actually crashing because it ran out of memory
