A health bar wouldn't change anything, it still has the same health.

Also it's an entirely optional boss, just continue down the story, grab some weapon upgrades, new charms etc and then come back.

I can't believe I'm seeing a Hollow Knight thread.

This game came out of nowhere and is now one of the only games I've ever considered doing a yearly run of. I can't believe how much I enjoyed the gameplay and atmosphere, and the fact that it actually made me feel some feelings actually made me think of video games as a medium of art, despite never really thinking that way.

I'm normally a bitch, only caring about pure gameplay and atmosphere, but with how HK was able to have crisp controls with great yet simple power ups, great enemies / bosses, and diverse level design all while creating a world that felt worth exploring made me rethink how I look at games.

Seems like a hyperbole, seems like complete overreaction, especially having played all Castlevania's and 2d Metroids, right? I think it seems like it too, but that doesn't stop me from feeling it for a single moment.

I don't disagree, but the same could be said about Dark Souls if it had been single player only to start. The main argument being that it would make the game too easy and co-op partners could show you secrets. Same issues, likely the same enjoyable result.

It has a couple great bosses, but imo it needed more quality and less quantity.

Also I'm not sure what about it made you rethink video games as an art form, it was just Super Metroid jammed together with Souls.
