Because of the fucking slow bullshit gimmicks. The flying tops that move slow as fuck in the air, the arrow spitting faces you have to just stand under and hit a few times, the breakable floors/walls that REQUIRE the slow ass spinning tops to get through, etc. The stage would be great without all that bullshit, but the bullshit is there, so that's why people hate it. It's so slow that it's literally the only Sonic 3 stage that doesn't have water. It has slow fucking sludge shit instead.

Started playing 3 for real yesterday, had previously only played a few zones. Got to this zone, lost all of the lives I built up, and so I decided to go to bed. I have no problem with Labyrinth Zone. I've beaten Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 a few times.

I've beaten CD like 13 times (all with the good ending, 7 time stones) and I can tell you, level design is actually good. Even though its main problem is that it focuses a lot more in exploration rather than speed, apart from Stardust Speedway, but memorizing them and know where and when to go fast is pretty fun. My, and my older AND younger Brother have played Sonics 1, 2, 3, (as well as every other sonic game ever made) and we have a general agreement on the best and worst zones.

Best Zones:
1: Spring yard Zone
2: Chemical Plant
3: Hydropolis (Basically how any and all Water levels should be done, ever)
&K: Mushroom Hill
CD: Stardust Speedway

Worst Zones:
1: Labyrinth Zone (For being so hilariously shit, it's a bit of a wonder that they ever tried making water levels again)
2: Hilltop Zone
3: Launch Base Zone
&K: Sandopolis
CD: Wacky Workbench (Good music does NOT equal good gameplay)

While in our family we all agree that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is probably the best, we all also agree that Sonic Rush Adventure is probably the single most underrated Sonic Game and deserves far more credit than it has.

The sailing and treasure hunting were mostly hit and miss I will agree. All modern sonic games need a "gimmick" nowadays, and it didn't COMPLETELY shit the bed, so it's alright.

The bosses were all generally great to amazing tier (With the exception of the whale) the music was great, and was one of the only Sonic Games to have multiple endings based on completion%.

CD gave people that exclusive feeling. It used to be pretty rare to find and no one could argue with someone who played it. Now that it's everywhere, it's pretty obvious what the short comings are and a lot of that is definitely level design. Cramped as fuck and the past future thing made nothing better and everything awkward.

Says the Sonic 2 fag. Don't get me wrong, 2 is good. Outdoes 1 and CD easily. But the sheer amount of content, refined level design, and better sprite art makes S3&K the best. 3 playable characters with unique movesets, 14 zones to blast through, 14 special stages and even more secrets to unlock. It'll be hard for even Sonic Mania to dethrone it. Sonic 2 doesn't even make Sonic and Tails different, Tails is litterally a different skin with a smaller hitbox.

Well some songs I've only listened to while casting judgement once, so I can easily change my mind, but the ones that stick out are

Carnival Night and Launch base, though they would probably sound a lot better if they had more to work with that a genesis sound chip

Mushroom Hill

Sandopolis 1 and Reef 2? Hard to remember a split opinion on acts. I know one of the Lava Reef tracks is god tier.

Imagine that you as a human end up forced in a sonic stage.

You can't do any incredible jumps, springs are incredibly harmful, deep water massize hazard because you can hold breath long, breath in bubbles or sink deep enough at a reasonable pace to navigate the mazes.
Badniks are indestructible but still potentially harmful. Loops can be done only because you can jump to the side onto the exit pathway, but corkscrews are strictly off limits. Even many harmless gimmicks like the spinning elevators in Launch Base are actually quite fast and can cause you a small period of stunning nausea.

Is there any stage a human can actually beat? What game would have the most levels that a human could beat.

Act 2 looks way more beatable if you're careful about the part with the spike columns. You can probably crawl the S-shaped vent. I mean, I hope you can. It'd be dark in there, so claustrophobia = RIP.
