On a normal scale. Everyone knows that video games are rated on a scale from 7-10. I never played Splatoon, and I wanted to get a switch + this down the line, and this review doesn't change a thing in my mind... but it doesn't make it a good score for a big AAA Nintendo release title. Whether it deserves the score or not is what should be argued.

I distinctly recall the crux of the WiiU was "asymetric gameplay" something which was left to die by Nintendo and never truly reached its full potential. Not only that, but it was a feature that was totally optional, making it possible for devs to just make normal games if they wanted. Unlike the Wii, which forced devs onto the shitty wiimote, or the Switch, where they must always take the portable version into account.

The Switch, like all Nintendo consoles fills the same role the WiiU did: "a console for Nintendo games." Nothing else.

Every other shooting game has season passes or DLC which fractures the playerbase for one thing, or they die off quickly. The game is great and they ignore it because it's new.

Also a problem with critics. They give Zelda a 10/10 score and it deserved it because it had a lot of content. You can play it 60-150 hours, I've heard play it for much more. Anyone who has seen more then 3 reviews should be able to come to the logical conclusion that vidya reviews are all over the place and mean nothing on thier own.

Almost every AAA title gets an automatic pass anyway unless it's nearly unplayable, even then it can get a 7 (pic related) and with all the bullshit that goes hand and hand with game journalism you have to read like 8 reviews just to get some sort of consensus.

Also before I'm called a Nintenbro or some shit, I personally can't stand the first splatoon, no proper voice chat/jump through hoops to play with friends and lack of other simple functions make it look like a huge step backwards but since it was the only multiplayer shooter on the wii u you had really no choice.

But 3D Mario has always done better than Zelda on each platform, and I'm seeing a similar level of hype for Mario. Mario Odyssey's reveal trailer also has nearly 25 million views, twice as many as either one of the Zelda trailers, and the second Odyssey trailer has already surpassed Zelda's.
