Just got done doing an Oblivion playthrough last month. I used Bevilex's mod list and the game turned out gorgeous (pic related, screencap). Tried going for a unique build and played a Breton that specialized in Armorer and Alteration. Basically became an unkillable tank that shot fireballs of exploding death, 10/10 experience.

they're still working on it. they started working on morroblivion around 2007 and finished it in 2012, so 5 years of work. They started working on skywind in 2012, though skywind will probably take much longer as they are recreating all the assets from scratch, casting voice actors, and adding custom music/cinematics/ etc.

Beast races got shafted pretty bad as far as armors go. Not allowed to wear boots or closed face helmets. They also walked funny in Morrowind but I'd consider that a plus as well as the Argonians water breathing.

I've mostly done melee as well but I've tried alchemy a couple of times over the years... details might not be spot on but basically alchemy is super open to abuse via positive feedback. For example alchemy is dictated by int (I believe) so you make a potion that increases your int. Now you can make another potion that's a little stronger and lasts a little longer that increases your int. Rinse and repeat for a while and it starts stacking to the point you're making ridiculous fucking potions that increase your int to insane levels for essentially infinite duration. Now that your int is so high you can make incredible potions for all your other attributes and all of the sudden the game isnt just easy but you are immortal and one shot everything.

Yep. I believe you can also stack multiple potions of the same attribute as well. It's really easy once you get the ball rolling. Just make sure you save first because it's really easy to ruin your game.

Like those numbers I threw out weren't hyperbole. You can make potions of +10,000 for 100,000 seconds pretty easily. If you increase your agility with a potion like that you won't be able to jump without flying off the island into the ocean on the other side.

It really is. I've always enjoyed the ability to exploit certain things in elder scrolls games to become godlike but alchemy is so stupid easy it's really only fun to use for a save and slaughter GTA style moment.

As far as I am concerd, Morrowind == Oblivion == Skyrim, just with better graphics and bug fixes. Morrowind was the only truely original game because it was doing something no one did before. And it wasn't even trying to be generic fantasy like every game afterword, it actually attempt to build a totally unique world with its own identity that couldn't be called a D&D or LofR knock off. Alchemy, Enchanting, Long Blades, Restoration, Destruction, Alteration, Light(or Heavy) Armor

For skills you generally want most that you can up passively through use, and a few that you can up through active use (Alchemy, Enchanting). Pretty sure you up enchanting in Morrowind while restoring enchants while using soulgems too

Acrobatics is fine too, but kind of a waste as a major skill. Athleticism is the same. These two you're gonna raise no matter what you do.

Ok it's not shitzillion but there is still tons of it aside from CHIM. There's the Prolix Tower, Mantling (the Enantiomorph probably connects to this), using the Numidium, the Psijic Endeavor (connects to CHIM), the Heart of Lorkhan and probably a lot more.

I've been playing Oblivion again for awhile recently, and now that I'm pretty much done with most everything I've wanted to do with this character I've been thinking of digging up my old Morrowind disc and installing it since it's been an age since I've played it.

Any mod recommendations? I usually like to keep it simple/shit that at least feels like it fits well enough.

LGNPC adds some cool dialogue and quests that stay true to the original.

Just don't abuse any infinite loop exploits and take alchemy anyway. It's just a really fun skill whether you break the game with it or not, and it's not like you're going to ACCIDENTALLY break the game with it. Also, Restore Magicka ingredients are hard to come by early on, since you need two ingredients to make a potion and in Vvardenfell there's only one abundant source: the others are the expensive Void and Frost salts found on atronachs. Join the Mages Guild and use the guild guides to teleport to each branch and take your free supply of Restore Magicka potions. They respawn every few in-game months. Enchanting is pretty much the best skill in Morrowind. You can enchant gear for yourself that turns you into a god. Although it is a tough skill to level up assuming you play the game normal and not cheat. You will mostly be paying for level increases in enchant though since it is the easiest way to level it.

TES started out by barely having a setting of its own, it was just some average, generic D&D/not-LOTR setting. By the time Morrowind came along they had basically retconned most of the elements from Arena and a lot of stuff was changed from Daggerfall lore or outright removed. I think Mithril was supposed to stay for Morrowind, but some of the developers (I mentioned Kirkbride since he was the one that commented on this) argued to remove it from the game since it was a Tolkien thing. So yeah, they retconned it out.

Nah. It's a valiant attempt, but Oblivion engine just doesn't lend itself well to functions of Morrowind. For example enchanted "on use" items require additional scripts downloaded that work only barely, some items are not where they should be like the thief's ring in the very first dungeon next to Seyda Neen and so on.

Skyrim disappointed me in a lot of ways, but a lot of that I was ready for, given it's Bethesda we're talking about. That said, nothing hurt more than not being able to have your bow in your right hand and spells in the left, allowing you to apply magical effects to your arrows.

Every year me and a good fried get together for a weekend to simultaneously start a new character in Morrowind. Only rules we have is:

-No alchemy abuse
-no hand to hand
-Dark Brotherhood attacks only after finishing the main quest
