Zero is only bad because of the controls.

It is objectively the best Star Fox game in the series. If it wasn't attached to such a horrible system and was given the Switch port treatment, /v/ would be praising it to hell and back.

Tying the roll to the boost guage and making it continuous while also removing the ability to turn the arwing on it's side forced the game to have simpler gameplay since your control over your ship was so loose.

Nothing but all range mode was a dissapointment as well and meant the game lacked meaningful level design.
The maps themselves were decent from a strategy game standpoint, but since baiting enemy strings was so easy it's usually just a chore of mopping up a bunch of samey encounters with X amount of enemy type.

The point of the game is that you are piloting mechanical vehicles. Miyamoto stated several times that he wanted Starfox to be his Thunderbirds homage. So since the game is more about the vehicles and not furry pandering, it's normal to see that the controls are "organic" or dumb shit like piloting in Star Wars EA Battlefront.

Fuck you, Command was a masterpiece. Easily the best game in the series.

Great game, only played wifi with other plays once in 2009. Because the multiplayer was dead as hell. I personally dislike most of the endings, only two of them was great.
