it has the worst "down time" segments in a persona game. I don't even remember any of the hang out moments.

My favorite Persona since 2.

First venture into the Persona series

Loved it, game of the year pick so far

Gameplay wise improvement are great and the artstyle is one of the best in the médium. Characters are a mixed bag like every persona game, some are shit, some are good. Music was disappointing compared to both P3 and P4, albeit is still good. Story took a nosedive after Kamoshida/Madarame, recovered a bit at Futaba and the Casino, but then shit itself at the end, last stretch itself was godawful and was awfully paced.

Overall, 7-8/10 depending on whether you can stomach anime cliches or not and if you liked the previous Persona games. As far as a "game" goes, this is the best one, but as far as "experiences" go, 2 and 3 were better.

Mildly fun, extremely stylish, a little too long, had a few decent story beats but overall a step down from P4 imo

It's basically an above-average JRPG. The sim aspects, i.e. the only parts that actually distinguish it as a series, were very mediocre, so it kind of fails as a Persona game.

As a video game, it's a straight-up improvement over the others. Loved the dungeons, loved how Hard mode felt difficulty-wise, loved how social links brought unique perks outside of fusion.
But as a Persona entry, something was missing. The scenario as a whole really failed to leave the same mark on my heart as the others. Years later, thinking about P3 tugs at my heart, but I'm already over P5.

Pretty good. Had some of the best presentation/style I've seen in a game. Never had so much fun navigating menu's before. Also while not being very challenging Shido was one of the most fun rpg boss fights in a while.

First time playing a Persona or SMT game.

I absolutely loved it and I think it might already be my all time favorite. I'm excited to try 3 or 4G next.

Gameplay-wise it is hands-down the best Persona game to date.
Story-wise it's weaker than 3 and 4.
Character interactions are cool but sparse, I'd wedge it inbetween 4 > 5 > 3.

Its a good game, but most of the positives come from the gameplay and style. Storywise, it starts off really strong, but starts to go downhill past Chapter 2. That Kotaku article that people got asshurt over pretty much says most things I would about the main plot, so I won't go into it more.

Though to add to that, I really didn't like negligence they had for group scenes. In P3 and P4 there were plenty of moments that made me believe these characters were friends with each other, while in P5 there's barely anything. Most of the time they were together they're just stressing out over what to do, especially when Makoto joins in all the scenes just get so fucking dry. And that group message shit felt so shoehorned in, a lot of the messages are literally them repeating the same lines they've already went over.

And those holiday scenes, literally why?? Fireworks festival? Oops it sucks cuz it rains lets go home. Hawaii trip? Lets be depressed the entire trip and get 5 seconds of free movement. Eat out at amusement park? Oops got a call saying my dad's ded lets get depressed.

And traitor being the most obvious choice, and Akechi dropping out of the sky for a suicide run, and Shido being underdeveloped, that whole last chapter.. There's so many big flaws with the story.

Gameplay is still fun though, don't think I ever got bored of it. So its a good game in that regard.

Has the best gameplay in series
Its characters in general are better than 4's and about equal to 3, still has nothing on P2 in that department
Story was bottom heavy, it was interesting to start with but the story never got better than at the start, the twists were also pretty easy to notice
Overall probably one of the better Persona games to play just due to the gameplay on its own but the characters are nice and story is okay

Christ, if you don't do the dungeon in the first goddamn week you get another one of those every two days "hey joker I'm worried about dungeon! [ I am too | me 2 but not as urgent ]
Every three days you get a shibuya crossing or train scene where the people say the same thing in slightly different words. Even worse when you are off school and they decided seeing every other playable character react was necessary. I get it. Nobody on the cast thinks Shido is a good choice for Prime Minister.

They really could have done with more (shit, any) random shooting-the-shit texts. That one you get from Ryuji when you blow off your girlfriends on Valentines day is genius.
