I like Fallout much more than The Elder Scrolls in general, but Skyrim is a much better game than Fallout 4. Fallout 4 was just a complete trainwreck that wasn't the least bit engaging in any conceivable way.

Skyrim easily. It's mediocre but there is at least an attempt at a main quest and the civil war questline was modded to perfection. Fallout 4's main quest goes to shit after the player enters the Institute and the narrative cohesion ends as Bethesda didn't implement a proper (FNV style) faction rep system meaning the player can be liked by all factions despite working against all of them. Skyrim also had more interesting magic/crafting while Fallout 4's is rote and boring.

A better question would be Skyrim or Fo3. Fo4 is just fucking awful, not even offensively so but just because it's so boring and repetitive most of the time.

I couldn't even put 100 hours into Fallout 4 after pirating it, that's how fucking abysmal it is especially for an open-world game.
It's so abysmal that after I dropped it I re-installed Skyrim and modded, turning a measly 200 hours into 1000 hours.

so /v/ hates both skyrim and fallout 4, but honestly which one do you guys think is better?
i'd say skyrim because playing it makes me think of the potential that it would have if they just fixed this thing here, changed this thing over here, etc while in fallout 4, i feel it's a fundamentally broken game that cannot be fixed no matter how many little things you fix

Some things are a bit contradictory, iirc. For example, they got the Nord religions wrong. Skyrim itself is much greener than what was established in the past. etc. Although compared to Fallout, I don't think Bethesda raped TES' lore.

Skyrim had a lot of good ideas, and admittedly some of the new lore like The Great War and the aftermath of the Oblivion Crisis is interesting, but none of that really reflects the game itself. Skyrim has a lot of good ideas, but they execute them in the most blandest, uninteresting way imaginable. Even more obnoxious is when they railroad you into doing specific actions with no alternatives.
