Adapting any RPG is never an enviable task but they just skipped out so much of the games content. Hell one of the biggest moments in the game, the route split was completely ignored because everyone got killed instead.

It was a doomed project from the get go. You'd need at least 26 episodes to give each day justice and even then you'd have to make sacrifices.

Even with that all aside though some of the shit they did was just stupid. Fumi came out as totally evil, Makoto being in love with Yamato made me want to puke and like I said earlier Emo Bunny was just the wrong choice. I know he's a cipher but he's the MC and should act as a guiding beacon for the others.

My recent play was for triumph ending so I skipped a lot of Hinako's scenes and by the time I had a chance to do them she was talking about Yammy's meritocracy in one of her earliest events.

This is were I think DeSU2 really excels over 1. The characters and pacing. I see a lot of people say 1's story is better, I don't know how much I agree and yeah 2 is basically Eva but the way the story is told is A LOT better. You get more characters and a full team far faster and every day you're working towards a real problem. The threat of the Septentrones and a big boss fight is ever present and there's always something going on beyond the characters struggling to even getting to a point of understanding. It takes FOREVER for 1's story to really get rolling while 2 throws Dube at you almost immediately

2 did that 2. Id argue better in fact because we see a lot of factions form and take up arms against what JPs is doing. People fought over supplies and major characters took up arms against each other.

See that's the thing. It really kind of wasn't. Not any more than 2 was anyways. The only SURVIVAL aspect 1 had was what basically amounted to lip service. You get some dialogue about how "WE NEED FOOD| or "WE NEED BATTERIES" but afterwards those issues never come up again.

At the end of the day both 1 and 2 had you up against some malevolent force who wants to wipe humanity. Except 2 actually tells the story proper while 1 has you run around like an idiot than back loads the plot in the last few days.

In 2 we had half assed COMMUNISM vs. MERITOCRACY as fought by highschool students, plus like two scenes of Yakuzas instantly getting their shit kicked in for being evil.

We see so many examples in 1 of good people doing bad things because they get backed into a corner, we see people start acting irrationally because they can't cut it, we see people society kept in check suddenly running free. Most of the scenes in DeSu2 are explicitly described as being empty or lacking in people, with casual survivors being small crowds and loners rather than a city that was quarantined. In 1 people are contained within a city and it focuses on that and the notion that there is an outside. In 2 there is no outside. The world is already gone.

Terrible idea in DeSu2, since you don't get that many able mages at the same time. Your better options really are Fumi, Otome and the rest have wonky builds. Otome has very tough availabilty too. You don't need 3 mages, however.

2 Phys and 2 Mages are plenty, as Phys Repel isn't everywhere in the endgame, unlike DeSu1. Jungo and Hinako are plenty Phys users, Fumi and Otome are plenty mages. It's good to keep your options open, however, for whatever the games decides to throw at you.

Leaders have a huge defense bonus if they have allies alive, which is why you clear the other two demons on a team before killing the leader.

Assassinate middle fingers that bonus and deals full damage to the enemy anyways. With Jungo's retard Strength, Phys Amp and Assassinate you can just kill leaders if they Vit is low enough or you get a lucky Crit.

Yeah. Not even die but have their be real consequences for not doing them. That's what I really liked about fate.

The characters all have their own ideas and goals and it does come to an irreconcilable head and when the party splits if their Fate is low? They're gone forever. However if you do spend time with them and you do get their fates up? Well it makes sense that they'd be willing to hear you out and rejoin you. You're given and actual reward for doing them that enhances the narrative.

Actually on that note. Id like to point out how great it is that they're NOT Mc orbiters. Oh sure you do a lot of convincing and help them with their issues but typically it's you stumbling on them as they try and do shit. You stumble on Ai and Hina fighting, you stumble on Keita fighting with Jungo, Daichi trying to get answers out of Fumi. Characters are acting independently and interacting with each other forming inter party relationships.

How often do we see your party members in Persona acting in smaller groups? Chie and Yukiko are supposed ot be BFFs but when are they alone doing something? When does Kanji do something with, well anyone?

Something that I liked about DeSu1 was that the COMP was pretty much a DS. If we get a game on the Switch I hope they make their demon summoning on a Switch based model. In the game each "Joycon" contains 1 demon inside to summon in battle, henceforth why you have the summoner in the center and a demon to the left and right of you. While the tablet part itself functions like Devil Survivor 2 as an app that holds your demons, fuse them, etc.
