That's such a nonsensical decision from his standpoint. People are dying, and a normal person can't perceive the shades as anything more than animals due to the lack of communication. Yes that's exactly what they should fucking do. The replicants should not even be a thing, they only exist because of a fault in the gestalt project. They live only as temporary replacements for the humans, they will eventually be merged back into the main body and cease to exist anyway.

There is 2 options for them; accept their fate and let humanity prosper, or deny their fate, destroy humanity, and let themselves inevitably be wiped out. In both situations the replicants die out, because it's their fate, but instead of just accepting that they get pissed off and take the humans down with them. It's no different from modern day school shootings where the kid is pissed off at the world and decides he's gonna take a few others with him, even though it changes nothing for him.

And actually the shades and replicants in the Aerie seem to come to an agreement pretty nicely about their proper places in the world some how. The only reason they laid a trap for Nier was because they knew trying to reason with him was pointless and he'd come to kill them the moment he found out shades were in the area.

Yes the future was looking bleak for mankind, but it wasn't completely lost. There was still a chance for survival, but Nier drove the last nail in the coffin and erased ANY chance they had, destroying infinite potential for a small prolonging of his inevitable fate. How can you defend this guy

I'm not denying that they were honest and good willed people, yes they had developed their own sentience, but it was never meant to be. The replicants trample on humanities potential to prolong their own ending. It is hard to admit that they need to be wiped out, but the fact is they do if humanity wants to survive. Well they still need to explain who was behind the whole YoRha project thing, what happend to the machines who were on the old system and not connected to the red haired girl who flew into space with the other machines, also ending E is pretty much confirmed canon, as one of the weapon stories is 200 years after the events of nier:automata and mentions a white haired android so they could continue with 2B, 9S, A2 etc.It's not just a linear story based around one character, it's based on an entire world and set over thousands of years so it could go anywhere really.
