I think it tok me about 60 hours to level my first character at release but it's probably much faster now.
Exploring everything will take a looong time your first time, there's a shit ton of content for a new player.

It's actually not that bad, you make a lot more money now while leveling than we used to, Exotic gear is super cheap and there are a ton of ways to get your ascended jewelery, weapons and armors will take a bit longer but you don't even have to suffer through the timegate anymore since all the materials can be bought from the TP.
