At least that's something you could eventually figure out if you spent enough time trying everything. Metroid II is just endless repeating areas that look indistinguishable from one another without any kind of map. Even looking at the maps in nintendo power it's still hard to figure out where you are most of the time because there are so many areas that look exactly the same.

i actually gave up on super metroid because finding where to go was to tedius, also the wall jump was fucking gay, a 3 to 10 second frame window, nigga please. I got the space jump and got tired of looking at guides to find the next step.
Playing Am2R atm which i believe is a remake of this, seems easier to find the way so far imo than super
