It's alright. It's a charage at its finest, but it kills any enjoyment from sn 2 and 3 if played before them. But it's not like you'll ever play the earlier games.
Localization doesn't look good though.

Summon knight SS 2 is one of the best sequels. It fixes a lot of the problems that the first game had like adding more reasons to use different weapons, some summons not having dialogue and it greatly expanded on the endgame.

By the same token, its characters are significantly less memorable. No one in SS2 is as lovable as Razzy, in particular. Well, Nina is pretty cute. Cliff Village is also, I would say, a far less interesting main hub than Wystern. At least it lets you interact with most of the main characters during the postgame; in the first game, everyone important just fucking disappears from the world after the story finishes.

But then, it does everything else almost perfectly. It's a 100% direct improvement on the first game when it comes to gameplay.

It's a damn good SRPG with solid writing, suffers from some balance issues though

Rebelstar: Tactical Command is a game by the creator of X-Com that definitely shares a bunch similarities with it, gameplay-wise. It's scenario-based and linear with more in-depth RPG elements, though. There's stuff like stealth missions, one level where you have a ton robots but not enough guns to go around, big sieges...

I liked it but not as first one, due oversights if you play well the action side of the game matters more, the second game fixed all the exploits and windows to deal damage without taking damage so it became more RPG where you are almost have a guarantee that you will take damage so you have to distribute to defense.

Many years ago I played a patch for SS3, which I presume are from these guys, that translated the menu and the prologue. It was around up to the Summon Beast appearing I believe. So their dialogue isn't translated. It was also a bit awkward.

In the screenshot I posted I assume it's supposed to be showing a tool that shows the text or some such thing. They posted the dialogue translated which was 1052 txt files, so presumably for each dialogue tree, which I looked through and a fair amount of them were translated. But as you say, they're probably not going to release it for years, especially if the original guy who was working on the text importing doesn't reply to them.
