Monohime as a person is fucking weak. The only reason why that shit even happened is because she was being possessed by a motherfucker so bad hell spat him back out. The story is about Jinkuro selfishly seeking out more power, and she's just tagging along.

Kisuke on the other hand, accomplished everything for the good of other people, namely his love, and so the world wouldn't fall into calamity.

At least based on the first endings. This game's fucking hard and I started on Chaos and don't want to drop down.

Nab Dragon's Crown to see whether you like Vanillaware's style. They're pretty divisive, the gameplay is good and visuals gorgeous but as a result of putting so much time and effort into the art the games tend to reuse the same environments to pad out the length.
