A) virtually no mods are made with the idea of continuity with the in-game artstyle fully in mind and definitely not made with each other in mind, so from a visual stand point everything gets fucked up.

That's a personal opinion, and I respect that you have your own thoughts on it, but if I pay for something, food or a game, I'll mod/season it to whatever extent I want because it's my choice to do so after I've already given them my money.

Xcom long war as well was a fantastic mod that completely changed the game.
Mod whatever you want, the only problem with OP was a guy modding the game to be very easy then complaining about difficulty, hes just taking the piss.

Just depends on the game, really.

I think mods that add a bunch of stuff or change how the game might play should be left to the second playthrough. Some graphical mods or general quality of life mods shouldn't hurt though. For example, Sky UI. Doesn't really change the game but makes navigating menus less of a pain in the ass.

Still, how ever people want to play a game isn't really my business but I just think a game should be played as intended the first time around.

Valve especially loves doing this. along with Counter Strike both Team Fortress 1 and Dota 1 were originally fan mods. Valve hired the creators and gave them the resources to make official games, which may be the best return on an investment any video game company has ever gotten on an investment.
