Pillars of Eternity is a good game

Pillars of Eternity is a GREAT game, in my opinion, and Deadfire looks like it's gonna be even better. Looking forward to it.

There was a weird hate boner for it initially. After the Kickstarter craze calmed down PoE turned out to be the best one out of them.

Got in the Humble Bundle Monthly, and loving it so far.

Pillars of Eternity is much better than Breath of the Wild, by virtue of it not being open world trash.

It felt more like Planetescape: Tournament mixed with Icewind Dale in generic fantasy setting rather than proper spiritual successor to baldurs gate.

I'm gonna give it another try, but initially the introduction of a dark world where you converse with spirits/memories really turned me off for some reason so I stopped just after unlocking the stronghold. Just feels kinda played out and lazy.

Don't talk with the golden plated NPCs that want you to reach into their soul. Those are kickstarter backers that put their OC donut steel story in the game. It's meaningless shit.

it definitely isn't baldur's gate, but it's as close.
6.5-7/10 I just finished act 1.

Voice acting is pretty good through the game, especially Eder's, Aloth's and Durance's.
That said, the dlc added some characters with shitty voices which are 2x louder than the rest for some reason.

I really liked the parts with Iovara and Thaos, I just wish the story wasn't such a mess. The Act 2 factions and the way they act in the trial was so stupid that I'd rather take the invite from Lady Webb and not have to deal with any of them.
