Serious answer, just about every good writer at Bioware left at some point before Mass Effect 3, but because the name of a series/studio is much more easy to remember than its staff, most people didn't realize this.
So everyone had the expectation that Bioware would learn from its mistakes and make interesting games again at some point, but instead we just had a bunch of idiots promising and failing to live up to the company's legacy.

You could say something similar about Bungie studios and Destiny. Just about everyone except for the concept artists and music composers from back in the day when Bungie was good is no longer there, but the company still carries on pretending as if it has good design talent.

I am not 100%, but i heard the sjw problem is internal, not on the writing.
Too many underqualified people being hired for diversity points while real professionals get little attention.

Then again the SJW are a loud minority, so they are much easier to blame than the slippery greedy publishers banking the game.

If you give EA a bunch of bad scores, they will cut you from the list and you wont get those juicy early reviewer versions of the games.
In this day and age of click bait, being the first to report on something is far more important than being right about your reportings.

So they simply give it a 7-10 score, no matter what.

Prey had much less hype, it was done by a much less known studio, and published by a company that isnt that huge and dont seem to be that dependant on press. (They still carry skyrim bus)

The real answer: Star Wars happened. Once EA got total control of the Star Wars there was no longer a need for thier third rate sci-fi knock-off. Funding got pulled and Bioware was left to finish the game with less resources while bleeding its top talent.

Bought it with some psn money i had. Its definitely not as bas as i thought it was.

Some of the awful animations are horribly funny and i had part of my ship not load so i just fell through the floor and kept falling. Gameplay so far is pretty decent...feels like inquisition.
