However it has a steepish learning curve compared to other big mainstream MP FPS and Ubisoft's constant fucking around threatens to torpedo the game.

PUBG is a fad game with little depth, but Rainbow Six sets up for a game that should have depth but there really doesn't end up being very much. It's almost more of a disappointment than anything.
I do say that Rainbow Six is the better choice as it's actually a completed game. PUBG is not really even close. Runs like shit, looks like shit, controls like shit. Might be fixed, but it really needed another year of development before even entering early access.

Buy both, refund within 2 hours the one you like least.

Also since PUBG is in early access, you can play for more than 2 hours and just refund it when it comes out of EA.
