I'm hoping we do start getting some left field surprises, but so far every character revealed has been characters you'd expect. Of course, I do want all the expected characters in, too, but I want them to dig deeper.

from what we've sen in the demo thus far, transformations are only done by characters whose changes arent that dramatic i.e changing color and hair. Their moveset is also unchanged when they transform. Buu cant transform and Freiza starts out in his final form. Same for Cell. Characters like Kid and Super Buu would have to be separate characters but will have unique movesets.

Fat Janemba is too big so he obviously wont get in. Neither will any other of the other large characters. sorry.

Vegeta assist seems like he'd be good for lockdown, then again charge time for the kienzan to be unblockable might be way too much for anything to work.

Maybe you'll need both assists out for it to work and afterwards no continuation other than a beam because you've burned them both.

There's no way Piccolo isn't Hyper Dhalsim with his stretchy limbs and long-range ki attacks. Krillin is almost certainly going to be one of those characters that's designed around supporting the team instead of just being strong solo; his assist will probably be very good, while with the right assist he can probably have nasty Kienzan setups.

Plus the 6 we've seen matches of don't even seem that same-y. You have to realize that Goku/Vegeta/Gohan are in a similar mold but all play differently when it comes down to it; very much a Ryu/Akuma/Ken scenario. The villains all have their own playstyles as well, and Trunks looks decidedly mid-range in all aspects.

Canon powerlevels have never been an issue with fighting games. There's many cases in others where certain characters are worlds above others in the story but that doesn't matter at all in-game. Akuma/Oro in street fighter, Susanoo/Izanami in blazblue, Archetype Earth/Ryougi in melty blood etc.

In fighting games its always about who's more iconic, not about powerlevels. Moreso in the case of DB where powerlevels where are always inconsistent.

There's plenty of people who actually play fighting games that really like DBZ. I'd say only 50-60% of the people arguing over character choices will be that kind of shitter, while half of the remainder will stick with it but still be shit.

I'm going to be fine, since Piccolo was always guaranteed, Fat Buu looks fun from the demo, and there's going to be at least one big grappler character somehow, but there's some characters I think would be cool to have.
