This is the best looking lowpoly game I ever seen

Low poly looks like fucking dogshit compared to 16bit 2d stuff, anyone with functioning eyes can see that.
Then again, I don't play indie trash becasue not a single one was made that I liked, so what the fuck do I care.

How hard is it to make high quality 2D stuff?
For example a 2D RPG with visuals and colors like in Chrono Trigger but a bit higher resolution. Is something like this way outside of Indie budget/talent territory?
