I never understood why some people even care to have video games considered art. Why does it matter? Do you think by calling it art it won't be seen as childish to others. Go to any modern art museum as see what stupid shit passes as being art.

Video games are a specific method of delivering content. Your question could best to explained as equivalent to asking

"Are movin' pictures art?"

Moving pictures can be anything from films and documentaries to advertisements, or even news broadcasts and home recordings as mementos. It's not all the same thing.

Same with video games, different video games are trying to be different things

Think about how many things are inside a videogame that are considered art by default, how can something like this not be considered art? And yet some people say they are not art just entertainment, or only a few quality videogames can be considered art, as if art = quality
