People who like DS1 wear rose-tinted glasses. DS2 is a big improvement of idea DS1 put into the series. I can't say it's better than the first part, I definitely enjoyed it much more. At least its levels are consistently good.

First half of DS was 8/10
Second half was 6/10

For ds2 it was 7/10 throughout

Both had amazing DLC

DS2 combat is more focused on group fights whereas D'S was on duels. This is why many Ds players complain about ganks and having to pull one at a time, they're going at it wrong.

Both were good games in their own ways
