Not at all. PS1 had a quality library too, but there's a deep industry-wide Nintendo bias and going nostalgic for Nintendo systems is more "hip" than going nostalgic for any other company, which is why you hear about those games more often than PS1 classics.

Even if your argument was true, N64 would've "won" in the 3D platformer, FPS categories and... nothing else really. Most games can't really be compared, it would be Apples to Oranges all over the place. For example what would you compare Symphony of the Night, Valkyrie Profile and Armored Core to?

Not sure what you mean, both have plenty of fun games to play to this day. PS1 has many more of course, but that's another topic.
4 player co-op Proximity Mines-only GoldenEye is still a blast today, provided you aren't playing it on original hardware.
The vast majority of platformers, RPGs and ""action/advenure"" games from PS1 held up very well too.

It has the best Die Hard game though. I recall a strange Dragonball fighter in it, where you'd hold a direction to follow your opponent rather than moving around freely, and you had no HP but instead you'd fight to build up a meter that would discharge a super attack (after 3 you won, I think?). Demo disks were a blast too.
I was always given the huge fat 3D controller since it was my friend's system.

The majority of good games aged well on all 5th gen systems. I don't think a couple of bad apples (like FF7) mean that the whole thing aged like milk
