I want to reiterate how embarrassing it is that a solo autist in his basement made a more appealing game than AAA devs/designer with millions of dollars in funding. This guy got decent sound effects and music by himself but somehow Wavedash thinks it's acceptable to release a trailer with placeholder sounds.

since /v/ hates the designs of this not melee character, let's design some characters to see if we're any better. first 6 posts that end in an odd number will get their character drawn in ms paint. This will be the first set of /v/'s all stars.

I'd love to see them do a reverse Final Destination where the stage is like five platforms, three low and two high maybe, each with their own ledges, and that's the stage. No base level large "stage" but only smaller platforms. They need to be creative if they want me to not just play Melee and instead jump onto their slower more bland looking alternative.

Project M is a horrible attempt at making a Nintendo party game into a legitimate fighting game.
Meleefags have to exploit bugs just to play. Sakurai was right in making the newer games focus on fun and friendship.

Wii-u adapter, yes correct drivers. Default stage, all characters for adapter not working correctly. I would just manually map controls but the screen for that on the launcher is zero help.

And it was the spear chick who decided to fly away. I've had several characters get stuck in traction/animation and slide along. It's basically unplayable for me. A shame. I see glimmerings of interesting ideas, but wow you aren't kidding when you say alpha

I think it's just distance and the FOV of the camera. This was taken with a fov of 25 which really pulls the background and foreground together. the game plays with a FOV of 55 so it should differentiate more but I can always move the background back further if it's a large issue. specially on a stage like this with little visibility.

Nah, your game is just fucked up because of your controls setup. I've had 100 people play the alpha so far and not a single one has mentioned the issues you are talking about.

You shouldn't touch the input window on the startup of the game, and if your GNC adapter and viijoy have anything besides the default configuration i'd recommend changing them back to default.

I just tested it on my end using the same setup, same characters on the same level and had no issues so i think it's a problem with your inputs/controller. There may have also been a problem with folder creation which errors out early and causes everything to break. I'll try deleting my folder structures and testing that out.

Also keep in mind, there will NEVER be a way to natively support the GCN controller with the official wii-u adapter. only with the mayflash adapter. This is because wii-u adapter doesn't broadcast HID and unity can't recognize it as a specific controller. it will always need gcn/viijoy and therefore it's prone to issues. I'd recommend using an xbox controller if you have one.

These look like much more creative "legal" stage designs than the Icons people are coming up with. There's really a huge combination of things you can do even with just platforms layouts but they seem to be just sticking to renditions of Melee stages. They've got that one stage that's like Stadium neutral but with two extra platforms above the existing ones and that's it.

I'd much prefer to see some things that break from the convention of just having one large platform and then smaller platforms above it.

This game is utter trash but I think they're safe from that. Doing what they want with Nintendo assets is one of the reason why PM was in hot water. Not to mention 3rd party characters like Sonic and especially Snake. With that out of the way, Nintendo is the least of their concerns right now.

as for archetypes:
Slow-heavy hitter, ranged, zoner (Quake)
Super fast/mobile, combo heavy, light, weak kill moves (Surge)
Double/two character singular character (Umbri)
Quick, long range spacer (Nyxa)
Fast Heavy hitter but with noticable drawbacks (Andor)
Light, floaty, poke/combo heavy character with lack of kill moves (Anemos).

It's hard for me to describe DESU. I designed their playstyle to be changable. Andor for example has quick moves and quick hits, but doesn't combo well, he has a lot of heavy hit finishers but he's very heavy with good gravity to get combo'd. So take everything in this list with a grain of salt.

They started Icon development while still working on Project M. Imagine if Project M was still being supported while this game came out, with FemMarth still doing the Ken Combo with point for point animations.

That's why they panicked at the idea of the C&D and cut the lifeline of Project M. What's disgusting though, is them not being honest and painting Nintendo as an absolute evil.

Project M has content specifically aimed at people who want to play it as a party game. Shit like the remastered SSB64 stages aren't intended for competitive play, nor are game modes like no-borders stamina.

I don't think Cartoony stuff will look generic in general, only certain styles will.
It's easier to have more visual variation in cartoony stuff than in brown 'n bloom shooters. The current view towards military shooters will probably remain until we see an influx of cartoony games, but even then the games we are seeing still manage to look their own way. Battleborn looks nothing like Overwatch, and it looks nothing like Paladins and that looks nothing like Gigantic.

If you're making a military shooter, it's going to look like a military shooter. End of story.

They went out of their way to make the shutdown of PM look mysterious which made everyone assume it was legal threats from Nintendo that had caused them to do it. They made very little effort to dissuade people from that notion as well, as you can tell by the fact everyone still thinks the thing got a C&D even though it never did.

I'm so fucking glad that I got to see a sequel to the Battleborn travesty in my lifetime. The only way to make this more perfect is if Nintendo released a quality smash game around the same time that this comes out. I love watching generic sci-fi mess games fail.

If you're still around, I am still having controller issues. Deleted everything associated with your game, including the config files. Use an xbox controller. The game does not detect it. Setting up a GC one has the same issues. If I use a DI device, it's mapped retardedly by default but it works (though only dpad works, not analog). Are you sure your latest alpha demo is set up right?

Yes im 100% sure its set up, I just tested it locally again trying to replicate. something is wrong on your end.

Also it's not detecting the xbox controller because it's detecting other controllers that rank higher up in the player list. So unplug your wii-u adapter and make sure in your device manager vjoy virtual controller isn't there. if it still doesn't detect the xbox controller as player 1, theres a log file that dumps the connected controllers, you could take a look at that and it should list which devices you have that are being detected before the xbox controller. I'm working on setting it up so you can specify which "player" index to start looking for a controll from then wrap around but it's a bit cumbersome.

check this image. vjoy device shouldn't be there for it to recognize the xbox controller as first player.
