Now I stopped liking metal and warhammer but I realize how dwarves are the best race and also how most faggot ass devs that put dwarves in games follow the tolkien meme, in the sense that attractive dwarves are impossible to come by, nope they all look like middle aged humans no matter their age. It triggers the shit out of me, the only worst thing is that half dwarves are nearly impossible to see in anything but half elves are all over the place. Why do devs/writers hate dwarves?

Elves are bound to get extinct as their form of a life cycle stretching over a few centuries is become obsolete with advancement of warfare and development of new weapons as a single life gets less valuable and sheer mass of soldiers becomes more important. This is especially the case because mankind is quick to reproduce and spread in comparison to elves. Elves would either have to adapt to this by fundamentaly changing their societal standards to a more reproduction friendly environment or they would simply at some point die out by too long warring with humans which could way easier compensate for life losses.

But everything about Dwarves is way more Scottish/Norse than anything else. There was a great europe map I downloaded once, kinda based around early roman empire times, so one wizard in persia, one in rome, on in germania.
Not sure where they all were, but all players slots weren't used so I usually added one for celts and greeks(that I played as Archons).

Did once try to play as the Tigran persians though and I could get sphinxes and war shrines up before I had any real battles, and those could just drain will and dominate almost every enemy with ease, even powerful heroes.

My favourites, I was never really that good at the game to be able to tell you which teams were that much better than any other.

I do remember the mods for AoW 2 being rather odd, I recall one that added a bunch of ridiculous races to the game, like aliens, giants, robots and some good-aligned undead (all using assets stolen from other games). It was just so strange to find that people out there were making this sort of stuff.

There were all sorts in this one, mostly from Planescape Torment and World of Warcraft, where I think they took pictures of the models from a certain angle and rotated them during different animations to make all the sprites, but it didn't look great and it was just weird. It has always stood out to me that somebody out there actually thought "Man, it would be great if there were a race of giants in this game", and I think it's called "Strange Lands", but I remember it being a pain to install.

I've always loved Age of Wonders 2, maybe it's just a game I spent a lot of time as a kid playing, but I've never felt that it got enough love, given how well made the game is and how apparently easy it is to mod, I know it has a fairly dedicated fanbase but I feel that a lot of people out there would have loved this game. especially when Age of Wonders 3 turned out to be so underwhelming.
