It was actually better to be a gamer before, all of those PC classics were pirated like candy and sold for less than a dollar, people think a crack is common with any kind of software. Also everyone had a PS2 with only pirated copies so for 60$ you got like 80 games and more if you knew how to torrent and burn at that time.

Even right now most shit is pirated on PC. Anyways, consoles and games are pretty overpriced here, but gaming was always a luxury so you should already have a higher than average salary if you wanted to have gaming as a hobby.

Argentina here. I have ps4 and PC. I only buy original games, so gaming is better with the digital era. Steam Sales, PSN Sales, and Blizzard having regionalized prices sure is great. What is a pain in the ass is the online gaming. Literally if you don't play a very popular game, then no servers for you. Also most of the servers for SA are at Brazil, so no voice chat because i can't understand nothing.

Also, having expensive hardware is shit too.
