Implement the motorcycle and war rig customization. Make convoy battles take place in an endless road outside the main open world so it's not just a tiny racetrack where the trucks are going in circles. Make on-foot combat harder.

Start with making a decent fucking sandbox game that isn't repetitive bam-ham bullshit.

Make the player a literal who nobody.

Have proper car customization, make scavenging and looting meaningful beyond "generic scrap" as currency.

Give the player a single hideout/stronghold that you manage/build up in meaningful ways, recruit NPC's, start a militia, build up industry, establish trade routes etc

If it was the same but with more varied missions, maybe co-op and multiplayer vehicle battles as a side thing, and less repetitive combat it'd be rad.
I reckon having the actual parts of cars be lootable and being able to weld them onto your own vehicle would be awesome.
Also motorbikes.

Mad Max is a 6/10 and could have been so much more. Everything has been said but basicaly, character is a nobody, you don't really customise anything, the map is boring, the collectibles are shit and the bosses are so easy to beat that they feel like what normal ennemies should have felt like. You can enter a 1v10 ans still win without any hit taken.

Probably 90% of the reasons why I bought it. Even today it still holds its own, so they wouldn't have to change the engine. But hte gameplay makes my jaw all clenched-up REEE

I mean it's not the most offensive game i've ever played, mechanically it was solid....if albeit uninspired, but systemically fuck it was basic and the repetition was insane.

I mean what the fuck is the point of a sandbox game if the most emergent thing to occur is you encountering enemy vehicles doing loops of the world?

The storms were the coolest thing in the whole game from a gameplay perspective.

Different enmy types, as different 'threat levels':

Add in a similarish Nemesis system for the various factions from Fury Road and/or the ability to befreind/become enemies with them and we're set.

Also, more spooky under-sand houses. That scared the butt off me.

Better car customisation and War Rigs. The game was solidly built and had a good crunch to it, even in the melee sections, however those melee fights were way to fucking frequent, the emphasis needed to be on the cars themselves.

Have Rig Vs Rig fights for rare loot, territory and resources and allow us to pick our roles, Driving the rig, assaulting the other or escorting in your car and have different rewards available, encouraging you to try everything and get good at all aspects of the game. It should start with only yourself vs pretty weak rig convoy, and ramp up to huge multi-rig battles.

The forts should be hugely extended and more meaningful. Players should build them up and pour a good amount of resources into them, further unlocks should expand, fortify and allow you to gain the skills and equipment you require to travel further and further into the desert.

Recruit NPCs to take over the tedious jobs in conquered territory as you progress so the player can focus on more interesting things and populate your stronghold(s). Making you a more effective scavenger and combat entity.

Max himself and the Interceptor should fuck right off. The character should be a nobody and the Interceptor should be a collectible bonus thing a best. You dont even need *THE* Interceptor in the game, but all the parts and chassis required to make one should be present for those that want too. I was more than happy with the Magnum Opus, a car that the player could make their own, not just borrowing Max's style.

Mines. No Mines. That was the single shittiest mechanic in the whole game. Delete it and the dog, replace with those endless road convoy assaults *suggested before) for extra challenge and keep the circuit convoys as a source of materials and convoy assault training.

Bigger map, because why not. Add something into The Big Nothing (counter-intuitive i know) and give us an exploration element aimed for mid-high level vehicles.

Keep the storms, they were cool and lucrative.
