halo 2. There was a tournament for halo 1 on the xbox using the lan hookups, and I was I think 12 when it happened. I ended up winning cause I guess the other guys took pity on me or something, and I got an xbox and copy of halo with it. After buying blinx and realizing just how bad it was I put some of my saved money towards halo 2. No regrets. I never even got to play ito nline though, we didn't have internet till well into 2005.

Ah, yeah I feel that. I luckily got a free key from someone who somehow got a copy from gamestop with two codes glued on the inside of it, so since I was standing there the dude offered it to me. I went home, installed it, played through the story, played up to maybe... I think I got to command level 80? And then I stopped. I tried again with f2p but it's just not really that changed, no reason to keep going.

I feel bad when everyone shits on it though. It was handled horribly, and yeah yeah gearbox sucks nuts but for free, it's totally worth a shot at least, even if you hate it, nothing's wasted but time.

I somehow got enough players together for a story mission and a few PvP matches and I actually had quite a bit of fun. Gameplay was simple, but enjoyable and some of the characters were both fun and memorable.
I definitely agree with you, the game didn't deserve to be shat on like this, it's more the guys at Gearbox and the marketing department that deserve to be ridiculed.

I can't imagine shadow of war is gonna be horrible in any capacity. At the very worst it's more of the same of shadow of mordor, which was pretty fun. At best it's a direct improvement, which is what it looks like from the footage we've seen. More actual shit to do with the nemesis system, less unfinished.

The extra year it's had in development (since it was meant to be announced last year) has probably helped it a lot.

Normally it's a gamble on whether a game will come out day 1 in shape or not. Also whether it'll be good or not.

Some people get zealous about the nature and think pre-ordering is like a huge "gaming sin" and that if you do it then "you're the problem", not like there isn't going to be one person the planet who'll pre-order anyway because he works a 9-5 and get's payed, he does his taxes and pays his bills, so for him "why not?".

Personally I say it's your own choice to pre-order or not, and I won't damn you if you pre-order in general. Just make sure it's a well-informed pre-order and that you actually want to have that game on day 1, instead of either later, or wanting it at all.

I'd imagine that the sword is probably similar to the preorder runes from mordor that just give you some sorta benefit since they've added equipment changing instead of just runes for customization, last I checked. orc party is probably a group of orcs to join your warband for sieging forts/castles/whatever. a warchest is 100% guaranteed no doubts about it microtransaction shit. extra tribes I have no clue, and the story expansions are probably just... story expansions, you know, like shadow of mordor.

Frankly I would say not to preorder anything at all until more info comes to light on what all that stuff is, and how much they plan on adding to the expansion pass, and if there'll be "another" pass cause that's the new hotness. The preorder stuff doesn't really seem all that beneficial, just... kinda gamebreaking.
