ITT: Games with maps that were too big.

Minecraft

>too empty
Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. Even the framerate couldn't put up with it.
>>384239338
Banjo Tooie. Killed the framerate and pacing.
>>384239397
The shit was too big. Didn't help that most of the time you had to drive halfway across the map for your next mission

It doesn't really matter how large or little Just Cause 2's map was, there's was nothing to that game beyond physics assclownery.
>>384239338
Did they really rebuild whole L.A.?
>>384239582
No. Was a pretty decent chunk though.
CRIME IN LA IS THROUGH THE ROOF AND THEYLL SHOOTYOU
>>384239338
>>384239338
I loved the fighting in this game
it was so goofy
>>384239338
L.A Noire
GTA V
>>384240432
It's not even big. It's a decent size, just not utilised well during the campaign.
>>384239510
>>384239575
You're not wrong, but it was an improvement over the first game which felt even more empty and boring, it's probably smaller too.
>>384239338
Whoop ass ain't just my license plate.
>>384240406
L.A. Noire's map was pretty small, it just had nothing to do besides drive to your next destination and look at landmarks.
>>384239338
The size wasn't the problem, it was that they cut and pasted assets. You could never tell where you were since it all looked the same.
>>384239338
Is streets of LA gud?
Mafia
>>384241141
it's janky as hell
you might have fun with it -- but it'd be difficult to say it's good
>>384239338

There were entire sections of the map that you literally had no reason to visit except for muh collectables. You'd think they'd space out the crimes so that they happened all around LA, but almost all of them happened within like a 5 mile radius of the station. I'd say that means the map was too big
Streets of NY had it worse though I think. Map was so huge but you can only switch out weapons (I think) and hand in evidence at your own precint, so you'll be driving all across the map just to do so. You even had a limit to how much evidence you can hold at any one time so you'll even be doing it pretty frequently.
>>384239673
Lol I forgot about all the in-game advertising we used to see in stuff.
>>384241141
Yes it's good, though the driving probably doesn't hold up well, it's only one aspect of the game. Tonally it's a fun mix of Hard Boiled, Speed and Big Trouble in Little China.
>>384241339
>Two huge maps
>Literally nothing worth seeing on them
>You can't take shortcuts because every road has invisible walls on either side
>>384241724
Best part is that each mission can be failed without getting a game over and a restart. The story just branches off differently and may result in a different ending. Also, Christopher Walken.
i enjoy the game (shut up about coop) but the map is too big for the rather small amount or content.
>>384242982
Isn't coop the only reason to play this?
>>384243305
for normies i guess, but i tried it and it's a nuisance. works better if you git gud on your own and learn to give the right commands at the right time.
>>384243404
How is the coop more of a nuisance than the brain dead AI? Speaking of which, have they remade the squad command interface yet? Because that shit is beyond ass.
>>384241179
The first Mafia had a very small Map, even with these slow as fuck 30s vehicles you could drive from the one end to the map to the other in no time.
>>384243305
>>384243486
The coop is the only reason I could play this game. The AI is so dumb it makes me feel sad for the sob who bought it to play single player.
I think /vg/ has a general if you want to give it a try, but try to get a friend to play with you even if it's only one it will be fun. Haven't tried playing with randos with no mic though, I don't think I want to.
>>384243486
its more of a nuisance because i hate being dependant on other players
>>384239338
Red Dead Redemption
Way to fucking big and empty.
>>384239434
I don't even remember the maps being big in that though.
>>384240842
The map is fucking huge, what are you on about?
Now post maps that were just right.
>>384246678
Psychonauts hub worlds were just right in terms of size.
