One problem with the game is that it is extremely repetitive. Good job, you killed that boss. Your reward is to kill literally the same dude with 5x more hp and damage. And when you do kill that version, you gotta do it again, with 10x hp and damage. Another problem is that, yes, the game can simply take a fat shit on any preparation you've done. Optimal classes, skill, gear can be flushed down the drain simply by bad rolls. Oh hey look your whole team whiffed while the enemy got all crits. How le tides turn. I enjoyed my time with it, but I don't see myself coming back to it sfter beating the darkest difficulty.

That might be true on lower and veteran quests but champion and specially darkest dungeon, even if you make a min maxed party, it is absolutely just a matter of time of when the enemy will get a crit and wipe your party. You can't prepare for that and the chance of them doing it is so fucking high, it is like 10 to 20% for some bosses

Crits do not wipe parties. Being ill prepared and not knowing how to respond to enemy team makeups is how you lose the game. If you're going into dungeons and not maneuvering your party order depending on who is injured then you deserve to lose.

If you're at a point where your party is going mad you already fucked up. You should have abandoned or camped earlier. If that beefy enemy is getting multiple crits that means you're not stunning/debuffing/killing him. That means you were doomed to fail from the getgo. If your plan for darkest dungeon is just to slap together a party of people who can all attack from a specific rank and then just mashing yourself into the grinder you're going to fucking lose and be a salty bitch about it. Everything you do in darkest dungeon should be prefaced by "why am I doing this, what is it preventing from happening later?"

You said dicerolls doesn't matter,which is completely false and dude, you absolutely have no fucking idea if you think that's true for this game, or you are playing on radiant mode. You can't prepare for everything, and the diceroll favor the enemies much more than you in hardest games, specially against bosses that have massive resistances and can kill you in one hit like the croc.

You can kill the shambler from like week 3+. If you "never have money" than stop making parties who can't complete a dungeon without getting stressed out the ass. You don't HAVE to reduce stress if someone has <50 stress. You don't HAVE to remove perks that aren't straight up -damage/accuracy/dodge and you don't HAVE to remove diseases that lower resistances. Run antiquarian setups, find secret rooms, understand what item to drop for that pile of gold and when. Even if you're taking all of your fights in 80+ torchlight you shouldn't have issues with cash.

I just don't get Jester and Grave Robber.

Jester seems like a one trick pony with finale, which is good for killing ONE enemy. Yeah, they also have support skills, but those aren't needed most of the time if you are prioritizing stress dealing enemies.

And for GR, I don't know either. She feels like either a crappier Highwayman or a crappier Plague Doctor.

Even if you prioritize stress from the start, sometime they'll survive or you'll just get crit, which is why Jester is amazing just for the stress heal, his team buff and his bleed attack are also really good. As for GR she is meant for comps who like moving around the team, aka shuffle comps, or you could just use her as a ranged damage dealer
