Only endgame Metroid. Even then, at least those games had enemies so powerful near the end that you actually had to jump around to dodge their attacks still. Then there's speed run tricks that actually add depth like how you time your missiles in the 2D games that this game lacks.

Change to third person like morph ball. Needed because without it they have just "go here and scan shit" as their only draw. It's like a glorified walking simulator game at that point.
Personally, i think the prime games have a great sense of viscerality, and it's really satisfying to hammer the fuck out of enemies, though I think the standard power beam is too weak. In prime 1 rapid missles feels fuckin awesome
