Was night trap a videogame?
>>
>>384212961
It's an interactive movie, but it's pretty decent
>>
>>384212961
I don't understand why VNs don't get this much shitposting, is it because it's Japanese? At least Super Massive and Until Dawn never claimed to be reinventing videogames or whatever like David Cage.
>>
Is there a failure state?
>yes
Video game.
>>
>>384212961
I dunno what you wanna call it but it's fun and out of the movie oriented cinematic experience type of games it's the best. Campy horror mixed with actual good horror and great music and atmosphere.

So, those old choose your own adventure books were also video games?

Much better than any telltale game, lots of neat collectibles in the environment. Best played with motion controls and has some really cool moments.
Also I really liked the static camera angles for navigating inside, reminded me of older Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Game stops being scary after halfway, certainly worth playing even if you wanna just get angry at teenagers in a horror movie.

Because anything western-made is automatically shit on this board, also anything made by any company other than Nintendo is shit.
>>
>>384212961
Best interactive movie there is, with real actors and everything. Could easily emulate the gameplay with a bunch of links to videos of it though, you don't miss that much.
>>
>>384216290
Were they on video?
>>
>>384212961
it has moving pictures and it has rules. that makes it a video game
>>
>>384212961
It's just a prank, bro.
>>
>>384212961
No, but it's fine because it's not pretending to be one like the uncharted series

It's an interactive movie and there's nothing wrong with that.

Anyone whose identity is so tangled up with brand loyalty and misguided "gamer" pride that they feel the need to insist that this sort of thing be called a video game has got issues they need to work out. 20 years ago they were called interactive movies or interactive experiences because we all accepted they weren't really video games and nothing has changed since then.
>>
Less of a game than Heavy Rain due to situations coming down to two binary choices in most scenarios, but I still really enjoyed it.
>>
>>384216016
Until Dawn isn't a game by those metrics, your story just continues if you fuck up. Two characters can't die until the final scene too.
>>
>>384212961
I think its fair to call it a """Video game""" but, calling it a ""Video game"" is going a bit far.
>>
>>384217654
Play any of them on crushing and then get back to me.
>>
I respect the fact that some of the choices in the game actually have severe consequences, even seemingly mundane ones with little buildup. Also if you're cautious, and know horror your horror tropes well enough you'll usually have a fair shot to make the right choice every single time.
>>
i really enjoyed it as a ps+ game
it's not worth the price of a real game but i would've paid $20-$30 (aud) for the experience
>>
Most choices didn't matter all that much, but they sure as hell did a better job than Telltale
>>
>>384220224
It really was a pleasant surprise compared to the bottom of the barrel indieshit they give out.
>>
As much as the Walking Dead games are.
>>
>>384215978
They get even more shitposting though
>>
>>384220880
I think Until Dawn should be the gold standard of narrative-based movie games, Telltale's stuff just feels stilted and cheap in comparison.
>>
Borrowed it from a friend and played it through, it's actually pretty fun to play it through trying to kill everyone.
>>
>>384220719
the colecovision tier arcade trash can go but some of the indies are hidden gems
i played this war of mine a few weeks ago and thought it was great
