Why did this game kiss up to Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus so much?

fire emblem needed all the advertising it could get. now it is a major nintendo ip
only had 3 kid icarus reps. not really kissing up that much

I don't see kid icarus, but Fire Emblem was being heavily pushed by nintendo and games were coming out when new smash dlc was in rotation.

Fire Emblem min-maxed its representation with playable characters. It has one assist trophy, no items, and like three stages across both games.

Because Sakurai made Kid Icarus: Uprising. It's the same reason why most modern Kirby games get very little representation as opposed to Super Star.

Dark Pit was a last-second clone character. He didn't take up much development time and was easy to include because of his model's similarity to Pit.

Sakurai made Uprising, so he was able to easily reuse a lot of the enemies/assets for other parts of the game.

Given the talky nature of Uprising, I would have been disappointed if they *didn't* make it into the game.
