Why is this game so hated ~~in the anglosphere ?~~
I mean I played it as a kid and liked it. I thought it might have been nostalgia or childhood stupidity, I played it again and it was good. Gothic is better for sure but it wasn't bad at all, meanwhile every time I hear an American mention it they hate it. Why?

The dialog was atrocious but I plowed through the whole game and quit playing oblivion multiple times. I'd have all the achievements but the location was bugged back then.
