A lot of kongs have different ways to increase their speed (rolling, long jump, dash into air attacks) and other tricks like lag-boost or skid-jumps,moonkick/tail helps with that, they aren't that hard to use also.
Most of the bananas that requires later power-ups are on dk isles, only the rabbit race in forest you need lanky sprint (unless you glitch him), backtracking with other kongs is less painful with all the banana pads and already knowing where to go.
A lot of the collectables point you at places you would require to go later when you need to switch, you don't need to get everything at one shot, at worst you need to open some gates (like in gloomy galleon or fungi forest) when you first enter a world before you start the collecting.
Gloomy Galleon is not a good level honestly.
If you want bad framerate, try perfect dark, banjo-tooie or high-res zero hour or iss2000, besides, you could play the wii u version which is lagless if it bothers you.
