If you plan to keep playing then you should know that hitching similar to what you described happening with VATS will eventually start happening sometimes when you activate a terminal. It's nothing to do your setup, just a bad engine.

You're right OP. Why don't we just remove all the enemies in the game so it's shorter? Just have a "win game" button on the main menu, select which faction you like, and they'll play the ending cutscene for you. It's all about the destination and not the journey, right? If that's too hard for you, just look it up on YouTube.
