That combined with a supreme lack of endgame content at the beginning meant people who wanted to play an actual MMO were out. And the people who played it for the story were also out, since once they were done they didn't care to keep playing

If you're ok with a watered down SP experience that is a mere shadow of what a true KotOR 3 could be, then sure

The stories aren't bad for the most part, but if you are purely wanting a SP experience, you'll be annoyed by the MMO mechanics on the edges of it. They went halfway into both the SP and MMO directions and as a result didn't execute either incredibly well

Played from beta to the revan expansion, and then once during each new expansion since.

1. The hero engine is ABSOLUTE fucking ass. When they bought the rights to the hero engine, it wasn't even half way done. During beta and launch the game was such a buggy piece of shit it wasn't even funny.

2. The writing ranges from mediocre, to some of the worst I've ever seen in a game in the original class stories.

3. Wrath of the Hutt Cartel was okay, SoR was okay, KOTET & KOTFE are absolute fucking ass. They literally have not released a SINGLE relevant shred of end game content in years.

4. Bioware fired 90% of the games workforce, and left a skeleton crew to run it, which the remaining people working on the game immediately developed and launched the cartel market.

I would say that it really ruins the stories of both kotor 1 and 2. So no, it fails as a sequel. Characters like the Exile and Revan are horribly horribly butchered.

There really isn't much SJW pandering, if any at all. In fact, the vanilla class story lines are some of the most hetero-normative story lines of any recent game. You can be a womanizing smuggler character, you can own your own slave as a sith, and there are absolutely no gay romance options until the later dlcs.

I attribute this to the game starting production all the way back in 2007 IIRC, which is probably when scripts were written.

Despite its problems I would still consider it pre-nuBioware, at least as far as the story is concerned. Remember too this came out all the way back in 2011 and was most likely written in 2007.

Most of the writing is meh to bad, but I did like the light side Sith confronting his reflection and pissing off the Jedi masters on Tatooine.

It's not anywhere near the potential of a true Kotor 3 rpg experience. If you're willing to do nothing but run through long hallways fighting mobs every 5 feet for each quest in order to get through the story then the Jedi knight class is the story you should play through. Make sure to do the Revan related flashpoints after chapter 1 of the class story and then the expansions and you have a lackluster continuation of the KOTOR storyline but a continuation nonetheless

The only MMO I could play without any friends. The actuall MMORPG aspect was meh. PvP was alright, flashpoints were alright. It was nothing special is probably what went wrong.

It was a shit game but I had the time of my life in PvP as a shadow.

Backstabbing people from 100-0 in two seconds and then disappearing was so satisfying.
