I think it's the "staying in the corner" part that's hurting me more than it's doing good, because I spend most of my time in the air (pogo or on the wall or diving) which means I have basically no time to react to the bounce jump. But I've no doubt that they're doable.

there are lots of shortcuts you can take in the palace so keep an eye out for that, makes for some really interesting platforming that would have been a lot more bearable if the game was tailored more towards it.

The thing I came to realize about Hollow Knight, and I realized it at the worst possible time (fighting The Hollow Knight) is that if you try to evade/avoid, wait for an opening, and heal when you get the chance, you're MUCH more likely to die than if you just face-tank the shit out of every hit and never stop smashing the attack button.

A lesson for all aspiring game devs: if the player has some sort of post-hit invincibility state, you should not allow them to attack during it. That state is for getting out of a dangerous situation and regrouping, not temporary god mode.
