Why did CDPR even bother with the Vampire Lord route when the fairy tale land portion is obviously the better choice in every regard? The latter can give the player the best ending and you can choose whether Syanna lives or dies.

Both expansions actually.
Base game feels kind of cheap if you replay it right after, lot of re-used animations, weird camera angles, it's pretty quality overall but nothing like HoS and B&W.
Some quests also had a lot more care put into them than others, the one with Hattori the weaponsmith in Novigrad is probably the best example, it has unique animations, likeable characters and great voice acting for both Geralt and the NPCs, compare that to the shitty Whoreson Junior cutscene in the main quest.
