What's the best way to play, I've been just stacking strength and getting at least 2 health. Should I stack skills instead?

Skill reduces your cooldown so i would at least spend a few points in it if you had bad luck finding skill upgrades.
A bit of health and mostly strength served me pretty well so far.

The problem with this game that they port characters from BLC and make them shit, stripping of all good stuff and generalizing so casuals dont get lost
