Have you seen the code that goes into said prototype? It takes genuine effort to actually make something work with that utter goddamn spaghetti he spews into it, most of the game logic resides in the update function that runs every single tick and it's absolutely laden with pointless chains of if/else trees, string comparisons and other horseshit.

I know most of his "development" is mostly streaming other games and stealing ideas off them, but a competent developer would've still pushed out at least something with the time he actually used to develop the thing.

I hardly think YanderDev is lazy.
Just look at what he's accomplished.

Compared to that of even Wayforward he has put far more effort into his game already and he is just one man. Wayforward on the other hand took three years to make a game you can 100% your first playthrough in less then five hours.

I feel as though when it comes to video games and animation in general people are extremely lazy.

It takes a month of almost nonstop work to make a 1-2 minuet video of animation? I'm sorry, but you're very lazy if that's the case.

You have to keep in mind that if you work 8 hours every single day on something and actually work for 8 hours, you can accomplish an extreme amount.

8 hours is a very long time to get a bunch of stuff done.

Sit doing nothing for an hour and you'll see just how much time 8 of those would be.

In conclusion, YandereDev seems a lot less lazy then others considering what he's accomplished.

The thing is it USUALLY works in Java as well, but it's not guaranteed behaviour.
The VM tries to ensure that every string is only instantiated once. Meaning that if the same String is used twice in the same program, it's the same object, so == works as he'd expect it to.
