The basic design is just garbage.

That's what you get when you design a game where losing is intended to be the default outcome and victory isn't a matter of skill or tactics, but of cheesing the game's flaws as much as possible. I get wanting to add extra challenge, but that's exactly the wrong way to do it.

it's just not fun and micromanaging becomes a hassle along with doing objective missions with low ranked soldiers

This, I've spent Paradox DLC levels of money trying to fucking play XCOM 2, between a new GPU, a new CPU fan, and I still can't fucking get the game to play properly, now I'm having eventual RAM crashes.

Pls Jake I really wanna love your game but fix it.

As for LW2, it's been fun as fuck since the 1.4 upgrade, though I do recommend some cheats to make it more enjoyable, like being able to carry ayy corpses and reducing rsearch times by a couple of days.
