Why are arena shooters dead or ignored?

Too high skillcap.

Casuals give up instantly if anything is too hard for them.

Because nobody buys the new Arena games.

The majority of people who cry about "muh arena fps" are fake and just looking for (you)s.

I played some quake and unreal tournament for the first time months ago.

I got killed before I even knew what hit me, now imagine this happening for hours. No chance to fight back at all.
It's like fighting games but worse in every way.

If you think dying every time you spawn is fun , good on you. I play games for fun, not for competition
