The Alamo was seen as a tragedy by Texans and the phrase "Remember the Alamo" became a rallying cry used to justify the Texas Revolution and later the Mexican-American War.

Volgin says this as he fires a tactical nuke into Soviet territory, the blame of which is later placed on an American operative. The whole intent of that scenario was to spark a war between America and the USSR by creating an "Alamo" for the Soviets.

The Metal Gear game are fun to play and well made games but the plots are always way too melodramatic.
