Name one game that has movement that feels as good as Sunset Overdrive. I don't care if the story or graphics are shit, I just want a game that is satisfying to move around in.
>>
Getting up off your fat ass and going for a jog should be pretty satisfying

Felt great in this, felt like a smoother and more rapid Assassin's Creed.
>>
Sunshine movement is great
>>
>>384134641
that movement looks horribly on rails stiff and scripted

my favorite movement in a game is probably lunar style in gravity rush 2
>>
>>384134865
OP here, I'm actually playing Sunshine for the first time and enjoying the movement a lot. I can't think of any other 3D platformer with movement as good as Sunshine.
>>384134873
Any Webms?

Assassin's Creed sounds right up your ally. It's impossible to fail at the "platforming" in that game too.

Metal Gear Solid V

Was pretty much perfect. No idea why they give you that shitty grappling hook though.

OP said he's just looking for satisfying and fun movement systems, not tight platforming.

anyway, seconding >>384135239 and Super Mario Sunshine. Also Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, or at least the free-run section.

That looks pretty sluggish. I don't see a whole lot of momentum mattering, and the character snaps to things a little too much.

Games with better movement:
Just Cause 2
Umihara Kawase
Skate 2
Jet Set Radio
Team Fortress 2
Super Mario 64
Perfect Stride (not out)
Zineth (freeware!)
Sonic Utopia (short demo)

>Microsoft first party shit is literally not even exclusive to the Xbone and comes to Windows 10 at this point

>Sunset Overdrive will forever be the ONE(1) great game stuck on the Xbone where nobody can play it
Will buy it the day a PC port is announced DESU

All three inFamous games, especially Second Son with that beautiful neon speedster power. Sunset Overdrive is really slow.

batman is kinda fun I guess
infamous 2 and second son
assassin's creed revelations and syndicate
gravity rush
ultimate spiderman
titanfall 2
uncharted 4 kinda maybe
mirror's edge
just cause 3

I don't understand how something that is setup so that you can't fail could be satisfying.
>>
>>384135562
It's been like 3 years, really don't know what MS are thinking when a cheap port to PC could potentially make itself back tenfold.
>>

It's really not. Not Insomniac's worst game, but very, very far from their best.
>>
SR4
>>
>>384134987
Yeah it's awesome. Make use of spinjumps a lot. And if you spin jump and immediately dive (you can piano the buttons) you get a super far and high dive. It's really fun and useful.

>>
how can the game feel good at 30 fps?
>>
>>384135730
playing with bubble wrap isn't a win/fail scenario, yet it's satisfying. I ain't even played the game in OP's pic, just saying that things can be fun without being challenging. when simply moving around is fun, that's what the topic is.

Best movement system.

To just jump off a huge building and fall anywhere.
It's so fun to traverse this game.
>>
Just cause 3 with the jetpack feels so fucking good. Flying through caves gives me a straight up boner every time
>>
Shinobi (ps2) has some good movement with its double jump dash combos
>>

Saints Row IV is better

looks too on the rails, it just sucks you into every obstacle. Wheres the skill that makes it satisfying to pull off smooth movement?
>>
Sunset Overdrive is shit, the movement system is slow as fuck and just auto sticks you to everything. Every game mentioned in this thread does it better.

Titanfall 2 is the SHIT when it comes to movement systems. Nothing i've played comes close to responsiveness and technique, and takes awhile to master since you can do really interesting and crazy stuff while shooting back and wallbouncing
>>
>>384137074
This. Rodeoing titans, jumping between buildings and all the movement Abilities feel fucking great. I wish the launch had been at a different time because the game is fucking fun, but it got hammered between big fps releases
>>
>>384134641
it doesnt seem like there is any skill involved in doing all those crazy jumps
>>
prototype has decent movement. first has overall better mechanics than the second--charge your jump like in Spider-Man 2, run up buildings, glide, throw people, launch yourself with hammerfist power.

Just Cause 2 and 3 have pretty good movement. 3 has a jetpack in the DLC which I enjoyed a lot.

Saints Row IV has OK movement--you can run super fast and glide across the map quite fast.

Arkham Knight is pretty good for gliding around the city.

I like this thread, movement is one of the biggest selling points to me for a game.
>>
>>384136690
this
>>
>>384134641
Dead Cells when using the assault shield and a fast attack weapon. You slide and roll across the map in seconds.
>>
>>384134641
Tribes: Ascend
Before they ruined it anyways.
>>
>>384135464
>Tight platforming
What? I'm confused. Are you talking about a different Spidey game? Cause this one had the smoothest web-slinging mechanics in the series. I don't remember any platforming.
>>
>>384134641

Nothing in that WebM flows smoothly. There's a very obvious snap into an action between transitions that kills the flow and momentum.
>>
>>384138090
Someone obviously didn't know how to utilize the super jump and boost
>>
Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis Trilogy

>>384135104

Only reason to play that shitty game. Garbage story, horrible characters, boring art style and enemy design, shit music

But by Good did I have fun just running around just drop kicking off zombies from roof tops.
>>
>>384138335
Assuming this.
I remember a friend and I trading off the Bigfoot controller and setting a timer to see who could make it across the map faster. Shit was fun as a kid.
>>
>>384136009

The snap action makes the movement feel stiff thought and therefore, unfun, because the game is handling your movement at that point, not the player

You don't know shit about swinging until you've played this game the way it was meant to be.

Reviews knocked it because there wasn't a cover system and ammo was scarce. If they would actually dodge and manuever around the map and utilize their arm's offensive capabilities, then they would be singing a different tune.

Then shit goes up to 11 when you have a multiplayer match with other swingers who are fucking doing ridiculous manuevers to dodge your fire, auto targeting rockets and grenades. Just as you're about to get them, they swing around an over hanging pole, end up right behind you, zip line kick your back and then launch a fucking grenade launcher while you're in mid air desperately trying to find anything to hook on to in the hopes that you can move out of the way at the last second.

I fucking miss this game.
>>
>>384134641
it seems rather snappy and sluggish, would not play/10
>>
>>384134641

>A Naruto game
>Made by Ubisoft
>That was an Xbox exclusive
>That was actually good
>And the sequel was even better

A lot of things here do not compute.
>>
>>384137562
yup, i'm bound to enjoy a game a lot if the movement is great
>>
>>384139301
Oh yeah, manuever around the two swinging points above the radiation death zone while being owned by hitscan enemies. Those maps were more linear than FF13. Don't get me started on the combat otherwise.
>>
>>384139456

Ubisoft Montreal actually gives a fuck.

TMNT 2007 was pretty fun. It was bases off the Prince of Persia engine. I wonder if they did the same for Naruto.

Hi Game Informer
>>
>>384134641
Warframe
>>
>>384134641
spiderman 2 on ps2/gc or spiderman 3 on wii
>>
>>384140992
why Wii specifically?
>>
>>384140728
It would've been good if they weren't rushed. As is it's just a hair above average. A little higher if you really like webslinging. I really like webslinging.
Those awful bosses though.
>>
>>384134641
Finally learning how to use the chain dash after a few hours of slamming into walls in Hyper Light Drifter felt pretty good.
>>
>>384134641
Warframe
>>
>>384141029
the wii version of spiderman 3 used the wiimote and nunchuck to websling and was a completely different game than the versions that came out on ps3/360. I heard good things about both versions but it was pretty awesome being able to legit websling with the wii.
