Fancy finisher animations and the choice between two factions at the start of the game which make z e r o s e n s e doesn't make up for the games severe mediocrity and the fact that stealth archery is extremely overpowered and magic has been reduced to death beams and fireballs.
we need to update some of them

Actually semi-competent world-building, player choice having some larger role in the experience and the game not being insultingly ugly does.
All TES games are poorly ballanced, and the everything past Morrowind has zero depth in the actual character progression systems, but honestly: neither of those made Morrowind such a fucking memorable game. It was the world-building, writing and lore that did.
And Skyrim is dramatically better in all of those regards than Oblivion. And no: I don't think that is enough to make Skyrim a good RPG, in fact I find it pretty awful. But it's better than Oblivion, because it at least shows SOME effort to improve on what is important, even if it does not take it nearly far enough.

the lore and world building in skyrim is just as shallow as oblivion and if you actually care about lore you'd realize that [spoilers]imperials don't actually exist[/spoilers]. The nords pantheon isn't properly implimented either and the quest lines are poorly written and just aren't as good in general as the ones in oblivion. The map is also shit, I prefer the empty plains and hills with broken down shrines than the one path mountains and badly textured rocky washes.

I don't give a fuck what you prefer, especially when it's clearly wrong. Oblivion was actually DENSER than Skyrim in terms of content distribution (almost one third of Skyrim is the plain surrounding White-run, which actually kinda looks like a real place, much more than what you can say about Oblivion. The world-building is better: the place actually has some active history going on, some actual cultural conflicts and differences written into the environment that actually reflect something about the history and location. Small deviations from lore don't matter to me if they actually have some suggestive power: the problem of Oblivion was not so much that it wasn't directly according to lore, but rather that it was dull and meaningless, non-evocative.
The quests in Oblivion were a result of Bethesda's brief attempt to ride the train of CoD like pre-scripted bullshit (something that heavily influenced Fallout 3 too) and while they alone provided at least something temporarily interesting to deal with, they were shallow, gimmicky and added nothing to the actual world: just one-off gimmick excursions to what felt like a completely different and unrelated game for a few minutes. Skyrims quest design is pretty awful, but so was Morrowinds and yet Morrowind is still one of the best open-world RPG's of all time.
The point here is that Skyrim has almost atmosphere. Almost a world worth exploring. In a series that has sold entirely and exclusively for presenting interesting worlds to explore, this is a vital thing, and elevates Skyrim - as bad as it is - above the utter CLUSTERFUCK that was Oblivion: one of the worst open-worlds ever commited to digital media.
Who has the waifu gathering pic from MGSV?

FF7 is a terrible game to get into Final Fantasy. Gameplay is decently solid, but that and everything else about the game is absolutely dated as hell. A good portion of what makes it great is nostalgia.
FFX is probably a solid starting point.

>supposedly the remake will be different enough that playing the original will not spoil the experience
They're like completely different games? I was planning on playing classic HD after finishing up Giga Wrecker, should I play original instead?

OK, I think few things need to be made clear:
There are three versions of Pathologic.
ORIGINAL Pathologic has been released in 2005 and in a terrible state. The translation was completely broken to a point of being half-gibberish.
Pathologic Classic HD, which has been released I think a year ago, which is mechanically the exact same game as ORIGINAL, but newly translated and updated with minor improvements like removed censorship of few scenes, bug-fixes, HD textures and better support for modern computers.
Finally REMAKE, which ISN'T RELEASED YET - it's still under development. It's scheduled for release in late Fall this year, though I expect more delays.
Remake is supposed to be in a completely different engine, the script has been largely re-written, entire base mechanics completely overhauled, but it's still more-or-less the same story featuring the same main characters, themes and locations.
There is no point in playing ORIGINAL. If you want to place Pathologic right now or in near future, play the HD classic version (I think you can't even legally buy the ORIGINAL version nowdays). It really is just a straight-up improvement: the story actually does make sense now.
The question is whenever you should play the HD now, or wait for the REMAKE to release in about half a year or so. And that is what the pic addresses: the devs themselves stated that you should be entirely able to enjoy REMAKE even if you played the previous versions of the game. Though after playing Marble Nest (a sort of a demo-teaser-prototype for REMAKE that is free on Steam right now), I would actually suggest waiting for the REMAKE to come out.

No. Did you not read the part that says "Skyrim, AS BAD AS IT IS is still improvement over Oblivion?"
Or the part that says Morrowind is one of the best open world games ever made, clearly indicating that it's a lot better than Skyrim?
Really, can you not fucking read?
Let me spell it out very simply for you:
Morrowind = actually great game
Oblivion = ABSOLUTE PILE OF SHIT
Skyrim = still terrible, but at least a marginal improvement over Oblivion.
Is that more comprehensible for you now?

always a shitty list. nwn alone is objectively wrong and proves this was made by underage b&. nwn multiplayer persistent servers were the closest any game has been to virtual dnd and it was great. nwn was made for multiplayer. the single player campaigns were an afterthought so if you never played nwn mp you have no business rating it
