>game has status effects
>bosses can't be affected by them
>>384110771
A lot of older RPGs do this shit.
>boss can poison/use death spells on you
>can't use any on them
>game has status effects
>bosses can be affected by them
>it is hilariously broken in every game in the franchise
https://youtu.be/cMiPc-6i_vA?t=51s
>game has status effects
>bosses can't be affected by them
>normal fights are too short for status effects to make a difference
>bosses can be affected by status effects
>boss one shots you if you debuff him too much
>>384110771
>Game has spells that inflict a lot of effects
>Bosses can't be affected by them
>Unless you plan for it and prepare a lot of spell breaking shit to tear down defenses
>>384110771
>Game is instantly over if your main character dies
>No matter how alive your other party members are
>Enemies have instant death spells
>Bravely Default
>affecting bosses with status effects requires skills that make you wait a long time or shell out a garbage paywall mechanic because limits couldn't just be earned through progression
I dare a single person to even defend Norende for a second
>game has status effects
>sleep spell is still useful even at endgame
>>384111303
>ui fills entire screen
>menus menus menus
can't really blame a garbage game for being garbage
>>384111725
Yeah I have no idea why they did this with Persona 5.
>>384110771
>zombie boss
>extremely hard when fought normally
>use strong healing items on him
>fight over in two rounds
>>384112330
They honestly didn't fix that? You'd think every review of P3 ever having the line "hey, this is really fucking annoying" would have prompted some sort of response.
>>384112330
That's how persona games work in general.
> game has status effects
> negative effects have a positive effect on bosses
>Boss has minion that heals him
>Cast reflect on boss
>Free heals every turn as the Boss' health dwindles down
>>384113359
>minion casts reflect on you
>reflects heals from you to heal the boss
>>384112330
Haven't beaten 5 yet so I don't know if it's in 5 but in 4 you can get "survive light/dark" attacks to avoid instakills.
>>384113423
>both you and the boss have reflect on
>queue up a heal targeted at the boss so it bounces back and heals you
>boss's reflect wears off right before your heal goes off
>>384114163
>it was a full heal
>Enemy can inflict permanent stat loss or debuffs
>>384114306
>game has ageing mechanic
>there's enemies that rapidly age your characters
>the only way to revert it still carries permanent stat loss
i love old dungeon crawlers but to hell with this shit
>>384111485
this with
>the game have builds focusing on status effect
>>384110771
>boss kills you by yelling
>there's a spell that deals enormous damage to poisoned enemies
>there's a passive skill that amplifies chances of inflicting poison
>works even on most bosses
>tfw there will never ever be a good HXH game with good nen mechanics
>>384111725
I like Nocturne, but your demons fighting to the end is a nice touch in smt4, especially during a boss fight and none have healing know how or recarm and they barely pull through for you.
>use phoenix down on undead boss
>1 hit kill
i fucking love it
>boss is affected by instant death
>Party member low on health
>Set up healer to bring his health back up with a cure
>Enemy zombifies him 1 turn before the healer
>Raise only gives guy 1 hp or so
>Enemy keep killing 1 hp guy between time of rez and use of a healing spell or potion
>Those healing spell are cast on a corpse to no effect on someone healed to full anyway
>Potion is removed from inventory anyway
>>384116801
>you're effectively smashing your dead friend in the face with a bottle
>the boss is laughing maniacally
>>384116801
Fucking Wiegraf, I hate that I couldn't bring Orlandu to fuck him in the ass.
>>384110771
Yeah, and it's shit in action games when you can do wild, crazy shit on normal enemies but bosses are just damage sponges that can do crazy shit against you.
I know it's an unpopular opinion to hate on boss battles, but boss battles tend to fuck up games for me more often than not.
