Golden saints as I think their sets provide one of the highest armor ratings in the game if you wear it with the shield and enchant everything with shield enchantment.

I think the only thing that beats these sets are the daedric/glass sets pumped with shield enchantments. But only because you could enchant greaves and the golden saint/seducer sets were only 4 pieces as opposed to the 5 so you get one less enchantment.

Golden saint set is better by .5 armor rating. But has only 3 pieces.

So when you enchant the set it becomes marginally worse than the Daedric set when fully enchanted.

Also, the Perfect Madness set is better than both of them as the best heavy armor in the game.

No I remember it looking good. I also remember gears of war looking great, and then playing that game now it looks like complete ass, and they barely got any better in their other iterations. Like the latest one looks like complete trash.

I didn't play PC at the time though and Crysis didn't even come out yet. So I am not sure what games exactly looked that much better in 2006.

Oblivion is equivalent to those games in some aspects. Oblivions main drawbacks where how they were super lazy with the faces and animations for the game they didn't even go through the faces and make sure they looked okay because of muh vibrant encounters meme.

The game looked good in 2006, especially some of the creature models and the fact it was a much bigger game than the ones you listed.

I remember before the game even came out, just looking at screenshots in PC Gamer, that all the characters looked like they had stretched out faces (like HD Morrowind characters essentially) and that all the armor and weapons just looked like solid color bump-mapped shit. Then when I finally played the game I found out the animations were the worst visual offender in the game. That fucking spinning slash animation.

I enjoyed it, but I remember always thinking the visuals were one of the game's shortcomings.

Just cause was released several months after Oblivion came out.

So the point stands true that being an open world game, at the time the game did look good when it was released.

Just was shortly usurped within the same year and yeah Assassin's creed and Crysis in the following year completely trumped most games graphics.

Divine crusader set is actually worse than them because they have shitty enchantments on them and can't get rid of them.

But after all the bonuses it does surpass the Golden Saint set and the Daedric set unenchanted, being actually equal to an unenchanted Perfect Madness set.

But because of shield enchantments you can increase golden saint armor rating by roughly 50% and Perfect Madness and Daedric by almost 100%

Regardless both sets have such high base armor ratings that you don't even need to use shield enchantments to make the game trivial. Unless you upped the difficulty of the game of course.

But even then, people just used mods so it never really mattered.
