yeah except in the handhelds the combat system was heavily based on the command deck while in kh3 it's heavily based on the keyblade transformations and the meelee combat.

In BBS and DDD you had 4 different animations for melee and nothing else, 4 keyblade swings and that was it.

In kh3 every transformation has its own moveset, meaning an unbelievable amount of animations, now include the base combat animations and how the system is more like kh2 with moveset modifiers which add even more animations and actions.

Adding a new character to this system is not at all comparable to the shitty handheld games. Those were cheap and easy to copy paste 90% of the movesets of one character to the other. Only the finish commands were unique to each character.

There's no way there won't be similar guard techniques since they're in every game, but if I can Reaction AND Sonic Thrust AND Shotlock AND Flowmotion AND Command Style (tranformations) AND Drive Form it's just too fucking much. Real question: When will they fix the combat? Is that something that comes later in development? Everything is still floaty and awful looking. Sora is janking around from attack to attack and the heartless are still just mindless dummies. There's a clear pause in between every action or combo that Sora engages in, like some weird wind-up delay. I get that this is for show-off purposes for trailers and such but if they're showing off and it still looks like this then when is it going to be fixed?

1. Drive Forms and Command Styles are the same thing in KH3

2. Giving the player more options is in no way a bad thing; just look at KH2. You could use summons, drives, combo magic with physicals and limits.
KH3 has link attacks (limits), Drive/Command style hybrids based on your current keyblade, Magic Finishers, and Shotlocks. Some magic and dodges seem to be modified by your command drive as well, creating more options for the player during these forms besides "you get a cool finisher and different combos"

And then there's the fact that limits and shotlocks have only appeared in number before and a good amount of them too. I'm not worried about how much fun it'll be to use all of these things, I'm worried that I'll be able to fucking smash everything in my path. KH1 and 2 and most side games had a healthy difficulty curve.

so Attraction Flow is kill at this point, right? That last time we saw it in any capacity was in the 2015 trailer, and even then most of the Attraction moves were tied to the Keyblade transformations. I have found that Every encounter works pretty well on my shit laptop with one exception.

The fight with Axel when he uses his flame move is just too much for the emulator to handle. That means re-fighting him is pretty much impossible, but with that one exception, it runs pretty well as long as your comp isn't super shit.
